About BDC

I’m Dane Halliwell, a Registered Psychologist with a Master’s in Behavioural Economics and Statistics. For the past 18 years, I’ve worked across healthcare and government, helping people, teams and services understand behaviour and achieve meaningful change.

Behavioural Design and Communications (BDC) helps decision-makers translate behavioural insight into practical action. Change is rarely straightforward: it unfolds over time, varies across contexts, and is shaped by individual differences, group dynamics and culture. BDC provides evidence-based assessment, behavioural strategy and communication design to help you reach your change goals in real-world conditions.

BDC supports change across individual, group, organisational and community settings.

Understand
Evidence-based assessment is used to clarify behavioural drivers, barriers, and decision cues - so change efforts are targeted.

Relate
Relate the assessment findings to your lived or organisational context - clarifying what’s shaping behaviour day to day

Influence
Help you design behaviourally informed strategies and communications that shift behaviour - practically, ethically, and effectively

HOW DOES BDC WORK?
UNDERSTAND
Gain insight into what drives behaviour change. Using evidence-based assessment and behavioural diagnostics, the key drivers, barriers, and decision cues are clarified - at the individual, team, and organisational levels.
RELATE
Behaviour happens in context. We connect what we’ve learned to the real-world conditions surrounding the behaviour - psychological, social, and environmental - so we understand where, when, and why it shows up.
INFLUENCE
With drivers and context clear, I help you design behaviourally informed strategies - skills, systems, and communication - that make the desired behaviour easier, more likely, and more sustainable.
TRACK & MEASURE
Finally, we track outcomes and measure impact. Using practical metrics, feedback loops, and data (where available), we test what works, refine the approach, and demonstrate meaningful results over time.
